He was born in 1936 in Saint Petersburg in the family of professional artists.
He finished the Moscow State Academic Art Institute named after V. Surikov,
and then he studied at the St. Petersburg State Academy of Art and Design
(former College of Applied Arts and Design named after V. Mukhina) at the Faculty of Sculpture.
But book illustrations became the basis of the entire creative activity of artist.
More than 200 books are illustrated and signed by the family Traugot:
Pushkin, Gogol, Tolstoy, Chekhov, Kuprin, Shakespear, Maurice Maeterlinck, Homer, fairy tale of G. Andersen.
Over the signature GAV, stands the talent of two generations of Traugot's family:
father Georgiy and his sons Alexander and Valeri. More than 50 books have already received a national award.
The works of artists are in the collections of the State Moscow Tretyakov Gallery, State Russian Museum Saint Petersburg,
in the collections of the State Libraries of Russia, Japan, Germany, Denmark, America, and France.
