Music Competition – 4th edition
Pesaro – 4 - 5 - 6 - 7 May 2017

Orchestra Sinfonica G. Rossini with the support of Ministero dell’Istruzione, dell’Università e della Ricerca (Department for Education), Comune di Pesaro (Pesaro Municipality) and Confcommercio – Pesaro(Italian General Confederation of Professions and Self-Employment – Pesaro local offices) announces the fourth edition of the music competition “Giovani in Crescendo”.
The competition gained the recognition of the Department for Education being included in Programma annuale per la valorizzazione delle Eccellenze (art. 3 del D.M. n. 182, 19 March 2015 and tabella A in D.M. n. 554, 6 July 2016).
The aim of this music competition is to promote the competition and the exchange of musical experiences to give to the young participants an important occasion to grow as performers, as musicians and, above all, as human beings.

The competition is open to the students of both public and private schools (primary schools, secondary schools, high schools, conservatories, private schools of music and academies).
Each school can participate also with students who do not attend a specific music school project but are talented and wish to participate as solo artists or as groups. Ex alumni can also participate (max age: 25 years old).
Individuals who do not attend schools or music schools but are between 6 years old and 25 years old can also participate. They will be in the section dedicated to Music and Singing private schools.

The competition in divided into the following sections:
  • Primary schools
  • Secondary schools
  • Secondary schools specialized in music
  • High-schools
  • Conservatories
  • Music High-schools and Private schools of music.

Participants can choose any musical genre. For groups (more than 6 participants) performances cannot last more than 10 minutes, for solo artists and small groups (2-6 participants) the performance cannot last more than 5 minutes. 10 minutes extra are given for the technical set-up (stage, microphones, and instruments).
Unpublished songs cannot contain offensive words against people, institutions, religions etc. The violation of this rule leads to the disqualification of the contestant.
The selection process of the competition consists of just one hearing phase. After the hearing the selection committee will pinpoint the winners. The committee reserves the right to add another selection phase in case, after the first hearing, they cannot choose all the winners.

When participants will register, they will also confirm their availability to perform during the final concert in May, 7th in case they will be chosen as winners (exceptions for special reasons will be taken into consideration).
Participants must be present the day and the time scheduled for the selection in the calendar with all the equipment ready for the performance.
The selection committee will be composed of important artists.
The selection committee decisions are incontestable, unappealable and irrevocable.
Participants are responsible for the possible damages caused to the theatre or the instruments made available.
The organizers are not responsible for the custody of the instruments and music sheets of the participants.
All the selections could be open to the public audience. Video and audio registrations will be used for promotional purposes.
The organizers will not pay travels and expenses of the participants.
The organization will make available for the participants to the competition a piano, drums, speakers and music stands (special requests must be written in the technical form). Participants can ask for a pianist sending a request to the organization (extra payment required).
During the whole competition a photographer and a video maker will be available for the participants.
A participation certificate will be given to all the schools.
The organizers reserve the right to postpone or cancel the selections. In this second case, the registration fees already paid will be refunded.

Winners will receive a piece of art made by the students of Liceo Mengaroni, Pesaro and/or a book made by the students of Scuola del Libro, Urbino.

The competition, Giovani in Crescendo, is characterized by the presence of Orchestra Sinfonica G. Rossini. During the selections the committee will judge also possible candidates who could be invited to perform in the final concert with the orchestra. It is compulsory to give the music score.
Orchestra Sinfonica Rossini (OSR), established in Pesaro - Rossini’s hometown - is specialized in the interpretation of the classical period and in crossover projects (based on Pink Floyd / Queen / Led Zeppelin music). OSR concert season is recognised by the Italian Ministry of Culture (MiBAC). In particular, OSR organizes productions in Pesaro (Teatro Rossini and Rocca Costanza), Fano (Teatro della Fortuna and Corte Malatestiana), Urbino (Teatro Sanzio) and the Province of Pesaro and Urbino (Theatres). Since its foundation OSR has always worked to perform both in Italy and abroad. Up to now, OSR has toured in Japan, Switzerland, China, South Korea, Malta, Turkey, Austria, France, Germany and Sweden. In particular China and Japan have become more and more important markets and thanks to the quality of the concerts performed in the past tour abroad several Chinese and Japanese producers have showed their interest for new projects with the orchestra (in the following months OSR will be again on tour: Japan tour - March 2017 and China tour - Febrary 2017 TBD).

In Italy OSR has performed in famous historical theatres such as Teatro Gaetano Donizetti in Bergamo, Teatro Coccia in Novara, Teatro Grande in Brescia, Teatro Dal Verme in Milan, Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome and has been involved in several tv productions broadcast in prime time on main Italian tv channels such as RAI 1 and Canale 5.
OSR also has had the great pleasure to collaborate with many important artists such as: Nicola Alaimo, Andrea Battistoni, Mario Biondi, Andrea Bocelli, Stefano Bollani, Simonide Braconi, Roberto Cappello, Anna Maria Chiuri, Eddie Daniels, Mariella Devia, Enrico Dindo, Marcello Giordani, Corrado Giuffredi, Mario Marzi, Michele Pertusi, Massimo Quarta, Corrado Rovaris, Giovanni Sollima, Dimitra Theodossiou, Alberto Zedda. In particular OSR has worked in several productions with Andrea Bocelli and Nicola Alaimo who have always shown their respect and friendship to the orchestra and appreciated the quality and talent of its musicians.
Special Prize winners will receive a piece of art made by the students of Liceo Mengaroni, Pesaro and/or a book made by the students of Scuola del Libro, Urbino.

In the days 4-5-6 May 2016 will be carried out selections at Teatro Rossini in Pesaro (Italy).
The calendar will be published within 20 April 2017.
The final concert will take place at Teatro Rossini in Pesaro on the 7th of May.

5 euros extra per participants for groups larger than 20 people.
Renouncing to participate to the competition do not implies that the registration fee will be refunded.

It is compulsory to declare in the bank transfer reason: name of the competition, name of the school and section chosen.
Subscription forms of "Giovani in Crescendo" Competition must be sent via e-mail ( within 10 March 2017 with the technical form and a copy of the bank transfer attached.
The organizers reserve the right to accept registrations arrived after the deadline.
Due to organizational reasons, in case of a large number of participants, the organizers reserve the right to accept the registrations according the arrival order.

The registration to the competition implies full and unconditional acceptance of the rules contained in this regulation that could vary if comes up causes of force majeure.
